High-Temperature Chain Oils
Oil-soluble PAG base oils with outstanding thermal stability for oven chains, conveyor chains, and extreme-temperature chain lubrication, low sludge formation, extended re-lubrication intervals, and reliable film strength at temperatures up to 260°C.
Performance Advantages
Why PAG for High-Temperature Chain Oils
Outstanding thermal stability
Oil-soluble PAG base oils resist oxidation and thermal degradation at sustained temperatures up to 260°C, maintaining lubricant integrity and extending chain life in extreme-temperature environments.
Low sludge formation
PAGs produce minimal carbonaceous deposits and sludge at high temperatures, keeping chains, guides, and sprockets clean and reducing maintenance downtime.
Extended re-lubrication intervals
The superior oxidative stability of PAGs allows re-lubrication intervals to be extended by 2–4× compared to mineral oil-based chain oils, reducing labour costs and lubricant consumption.
Reliable film strength at high temperature
PAGs maintain a durable lubricant film at elevated temperatures where mineral oils thin out or evaporate, protecting chain pins and bushings from wear and galling.
Application Segments
Sub-Segments
Oven Chains
Continuous conveyor oven chains in baking, food processing, and powder coating; ISO VG 100–220 for sustained high-temperature operation up to 260°C.

Recommended PAG Grades
Typical grades for high-temperature chain oils: PAG OS 100, PAG OS 150, PAG OS 220, PAG OS 320
Aminic Antioxidant SPDA
High-temperature antioxidant for chain greases, bearing greases, and high-temperature specialty greases. LOW SLUDGE tendency makes SPDA ideal for greases operating above 150°C where other aminics form deposits. Treat rate: 0.3-0.8%.

Formulation Guidance
Compatible Additives
DODPA (Octylated Diphenylamine)
0.5–1.5% for sustained high-temperature chain operation; critical for preventing oxidative degradation
BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene)
0.5% as a secondary antioxidant for thermal cycling protection
Silicone-based antifoam
5–20 ppm to suppress foam in chain oil application systems
Technical Reference
Technical Notes
Operating temperature range: −40°C to 260°C continuous. Oil-soluble PAGs are preferred for chain lubrication due to their excellent thermal stability and low sludge formation. Compatible with FKM, HNBR, and PTFE seals. Relevant standards: DIN 51517-3 (CLP lubricants), ISO 6743-5 (Lubricants for chain drives), ASTM D2272 (Oxidation stability by rotating pressure vessel).
